The real Christmas message

Stop beating each other with turkey bones and step away from the remote. As it’s Christmas, I’ll assume you’ve been celebrating the birth of the Prince of Peace in the usual way – by getting spazzed to such an extent you’ll even sink to sherry. From Sainsburys to Asda, Tesco and Morrisons, LIDL and ALDI the cry has been, “It’s what Jesus would have wanted.”

Well, this festival demands a message. We’ve got the Queen I know, and Channel 4’s alternative – this year delivered by a woman who was disfigured in an acid attack.

Resisting the temptation to ask, I wonder what they threw at the Welsh Icons Editor, I shall urge upon you then a Welsh Christmas message – straight out of the Valleys.

Wales’ finest thespian (they like it when you say that, makes ’em feel special), deepest thinker and angriest drunk, David Garland Jones has been the sensation of the year for me (no, it hasn’t been has it) and here he is again with more wit, wisdom and good spirit than was printed on the jokes in my LIDL crackers this year. He’s moving, he’s profound, he’s what it’s all about – no wonder the views for this video currently lurk in the astonishing dozens.

Nadolig Llawen, belatedly, and don’t forget to give my love to Rose.
