Copper piping stolen

Members of the public are asked to be vigilant after copper piping was stolen from two addresses in Llandudno.

Between 7pm on 27 December and 7.15am on 28 December an offender or offenders entered the back garden of a property in Cwm Place, Llandudno, and ripped the white plastic covering off the gas meter. They then broke clips securing the copper piping to the wall and eventually snapped the piping off.

They left with approximately 5 metres of copper piping from the gas meter and also ripped off waste piping to the water outlet, which was secured to the rear wall.

This incident is linked to a similar one, which occurred at another address in Cwm Place on 26 December.

PC Nick Ellis explained: “We need to make the public aware of these incidents and ask them to be vigilant.”

He added: “There could have been the potential for a massive explosion, causing serious danger to life, had the gas not been switched off.”

Anyone with information relating to these incidents where copper piping has been stolen is urged to contact PC Nick Ellis at North Wales Police on 101 if in Wales, 0845 6071001(Welsh line), 0845 6071002 (English line) or text 66767.
