A better service for people who need help

Regular advice sessions have been set up at public libraries in Porthcawl and Maesteg for people who want to find out if they are entitled to receive help with their rent or council tax.

The sessions have been organised by Bridgend County Borough Council’s Take-Up Team as a way of helping people understand more about housing and council tax benefit.

Staff will be available between 2pm-4pm to answer questions and provide help with making a claim or filling out forms at Porthcawl Library on the third Friday of every month and at Maesteg Library on the third Tuesday of every month.

Part of the council’s Benefits Service, the Take Up Team aim to increase awareness and make it easier for people on low incomes to get the help that they are entitled to.

The team offer a personal and professional service. As well as being based in the Customer Service Centre at the Civic Offices, Angel Street, Bridgend, they can offer advice in person, over the telephone or through a home visit. A fast-track service will also allow a claim to be processed normally within 48 hours of a home visit.
