A chance to learn about tracing your family tree in Gwynedd

Tracing family history has become very popular with numerous TV shows concentrating on the subject, and more and more people are showing an interest in drawing their own family tree. As a result, Gwynedd Council’s one day courses which will give guidance on the best way to go about tracing their family history are bound to prove very popular.

The courses which will be held at the Caernarfon Record-Office by Gwynedd Council’s Archives Service, will give tips and guidance on how to set about tracing your family history. There will be an opportunity to look at different kinds of sources and evidence.

One of the talks will give a case study, and another session will provide an opportunity where you can quiz Gwynedd Council’s archivists. Those attending will receive an information pack. The cost of the course is £10.

Councillor Roy Owen, who is responsible for archives at Gwynedd Council said:

“We hope that these courses will be an opportunity for anyone who is interested in tracing their family history to see the wealth of historically important records which are available, and that they have the chance to make use of these facilities at Gwynedd Council’s record offices.

“Similar courses which we have been held in the past have been very popular, and we are confident that members of the public will be keen to book their places of these courses as well, so remember to book a place if you’re keen to attend one of the courses.”

Courses will be held on the following dates:

Saturday, 19 November 2011: Family History Course (Welsh)
