A flipping good fund-raised for Tenby lifeboat men

Tenby RNLI fund- raisers tried a new initiative to raise money by holding Pancake Races on Pier Hill at Tenby Harbour on Shrove Tuesday.

There were over thirty entrants aged 6 years to pensioners who turned up for the various categories of race with their pancakes and frying pans for a sixty meter dash uphill whilst tossing their pancakes. The race was started by the Mayor of Tenby Mrs Sue Lane; thankfully the rain had stopped and the races where carried out in glorious Pembrokeshire sunshine.

Two members of Tenby RNLI crew took part in the races they were Second Coxswain Phillip John and First Mechanic Steve Lowe, They were cheered on by a number of other crewmembers during their lunch break from work.

A large crowed of local people and holiday makers turned up to cheer on the contestants, and enjoyed the fun of the event.

Next year we will hold another Pancake Race and hopefully it will become an annual event.

In the evening a delicious Pancake Dinner was held at the Forecroft Hotel; with more funds being raised for the RNLI.
