Abercynon restaurant cooks up a charity treat

Raising money for charity was definitely on the menu when kind-hearted restaurant staff organised an all-you-can eat buffet and raffle in aid of good causes.

The event at the Tamarind restaurant in Abercynon was organised in aid of the Charity Appeal for Mayor Cllr Simon Lloyd.

As well as cooking up a delicious all-you-can eat menu for diners, the staff also organised a raffle to further boost the charity cash pot.

They presented Mayor Cllr Lloyd with a cheque for £629 this month, every penny of which will go towards his chosen charities of Macmillan Cancer Support, Christian Lewis Teenage Cancer Trust, the Rowan Tree Foundation (formerly Cynon Valley Cancer Care) and the charity arm of the Royal Corps of Signals.

Mayor Cllr Lloyd said: “Not only was this a fantastic evening with delicious food thanks to the staff at Tamarind, it has also raised a lot of money for charities I hold very dear to my heart.

“I am overwhelmed by the support I am being shown by the residents and businesses of Rhondda Cynon Taf towards my charity appeal.

“Evenings such as this are only a success thanks to the many people who work so hard to organise them and the people who come along and show their support.”
