Getting fit or dropping a few pounds is often a top priority when it comes to New Year’s resolutions.
So this January Cardiff Council’s Active Team will be offering information and advice to those who want to make healthy lifestyle changes for the future.
The team will be holding a health and fitness advisory service in Cardiff city centre today (Wednesday 11, 2012) from 8.30am until 5.30pm.
The special exhibition caravan will be situated outside the rear entrance of Queens Arcade on Working Street.
Throughout the day the team will be on hand to raise awareness of the Council’s leisure and sports amenities and how people can get the best out of them in order to enjoy an active life.
Visitors to the exhibition stand will be able to learn about the various value-for-money membership options available to them at their local leisure centres. They can also watch fitness demonstrations, get to grips with different apparatus and receive free health MOT’s from the Active Fit Squad.
Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Nigel Howells said: “January is a great time to sign up to your local leisure centre and start getting fit for the future.
“This Active advice service will not only give people useful and up-to-date information about their local fitness facilities and the benefits they can enjoy from them, but will also promote the excellent money-saving membership options we have in place.
“If people are in need of some inspiration or motivation to get active and healthy for 2012 they should pop along and speak to one of the team.”
