Adamsdown Community Set to Benefit from Landfill Fund

A building in the grounds of Tredegarville Primary School in Adamsdown will be redeveloped into a resource for the whole community thanks to the Councils Landfill Community Fund (LCF).

Adamsdown Communities First has ensured the old school house recognisable through its colourful mosaic wall will benefit to the tune of £48,000 from the LCF allowing work to begin on creating a new community space. The new multi-use building will have a variety of training rooms, including a large kitchen which will be the home for healthy eating and cultural cookery classes. When work is complete the facility will be available for all three local primary schools and various local community groups to use.

Executive Member for Communities, Housing and Social Justice and Deputy Leader, Cllr Judith Woodman said, “This is just one of 11 excellent projects being funded through the LCF and communities will see an enormous benefit.  In the case of Adamsdown, a well known building will be transformed into a fantastic community resource.  The plans are clever and well thought-out showing what can be achieved through this innovative method of funding projects.

Communities First Development Worker, for Adamsdown, Bethan Gamble said, “This will be a much needed facility in Adamsdown and its creation will offer opportunities to enlarge the already active community volunteering and enterprises functioning in the local area.  We are working closely with Adamsdown Environmental Action Group to ensure the redevelopment of a much-loved building will bring an exciting and resourceful facility for all the community to use and enjoy.”
