Adopt a Blue for your junior rugby club

Blues, Wales and Lions winger Leigh Halfpenny was in Builth Wells last Sunday for the first of this season’s Adopt a Player events.

The Adopt a Player Scheme has gone from strength to strength with every player in the squad assigned to a club within the region.

The Junior Sections within these clubs can then ask their players to join in a coaching session or present certificates.

Leigh was invited up to Builth for the first of this season’s events and it didn’t take him long to get involved with a game of Tag Rugby and help out with some tackling practice.

Speaking at Builth Wells RFC Leigh said: “Everyone at Builth Wells made me feel very welcome and the children up there seem to really enjoy their rugby.

“They have a great set up at the Builth Bulls and it was great fun joining in for a quick game of TAG and helping out with the tackle practice.

“It wasn’t that long ago that I was playing for my local club so I know how important grass roots rugby is in developing young talent.

“A lot of credit has to go to the coaches and administrators who give up their free time to make sure the youngsters have the opportunity to play the game they love.”
