Algal bloom reassurance

Denbighshire County Council is reassuring people about a marine algal bloom that has been spotted along parts of the county’s coastline.

The phytoplankton bloom, which is not toxic and not harmful to humans, is seen as foam along the coast and is most often seen in the spring and early summer.

These blooms are natural occurrences and foam can be produced during rough weather and windy conditions. An unpleasant smell occurs when the algae is dying.
