Alun Evans wins Cân i Gymru 2010

Alun Evans, who performs under the name Alun Tan Lan, has been crowned the winner of the 2010 Cân i Gymru competition tonight at Venue Cymru Llandudno (Sunday 28 February) with the song ‘Bws i’r Lleuad’ (Bus to the Moon).

Alun has been a musician and composer for years, and is originally from the Conwy Valley. He’s delighted to have been awarded the top £10,000 prize for penning the winning song. Alun would like to use the money to build a recording studio in his garden.

In second place and winning £2,000 was Gai Toms with the song ‘Deffra’ and Jaci Williams and Aron Elias came third winning £1,500 for the song ‘Gorwel’.

Cân i Gymru producer Jonathan Davies said, “The standard of this year’s entries was very high. We’ve had a night of top-quality performances and the audience has enjoyed a great show. S4C viewers and the jury have chosen Alun, a very worthy winner.”
