AM Prepares for Armed Forces Day

Rebecca evans armed forces dayRebecca Evans AM, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, will join people across the country in marking armed forces day on Saturday, June 28th.

Mrs Evans, who can be seen pictured with the Armed Forces Day flag, is encouraging people to take part in one of their local events. A list of events can be found at http://www.armedforcesday.org.uk/events/index.aspx.

Armed Forces Day has been hugely successful since its launch in 2006. It is an opportunity to raise public awareness of the contribution made by those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces – including currently serving troops, Service families, veterans and cadets – as well as to say ‘thank you’ for all they do.

Mrs Evans said: “Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for us all to recognise the huge contribution that our men and women of the forces make, and have made, to protect the freedoms we all enjoy.

“This is a special year. 2014 makes the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.  It is a chance to reflect on conflicts past and the lessons for today.”
