Local Labour AM Jeff Cuthbert has welcomed the opening of a 24-hour staffed women’s refuge in Caerphilly town.
The 24-hour women’s refuge was part of the commitment charity Llamau made to the Caerphilly area after it took over the responsibilities of Caerphilly Women’s Aid recently.
Jeff Cuthbert AM said: “The refuge has been much-needed for many of the most vulnerable women and children in the Caerphilly area. I am pleased that those in need will now be able to escape domestic abuse and to receive support around the clock, whenever it is needed.”
Beyond the 24-hour refuge, Llamau offers a holistic range of services in Caerphilly such as support with housing issues, including women-only accommodation, tenancy support, family mediation, housing and welfare advice, outreach services for 14 – 19 year olds, and pre-vocational learning and training.
