Andrew RT Davies AM, Conservative shadow health minister, has welcomed progress on new mental health legislation for Wales.
Commenting on the Health Minister’s statement on the Mental Health (Wales) Measure, Shadow Minister for Health Andrew RT Davies AM said: “I welcome the news that the proposed Mental Health Measure is finally beginning its legislative process.
“This legislation has been long awaited as considerable time has passed since the LCO was first introduced.
“Establishing a statutory duty for LHBs to provide mental health services could play an important role in safeguarding the rights of patients and their families in the mental health field.
“It is of critical importance that the Measure is funded effectively in order for the benefits to society to be felt, as this has not been the case with previous Assembly Government Measures.”
