AM Welcomes Update on Resurfacing Plans for The Bryn

Nick_RamsayAssembly Member Nick Ramsay has welcomed progress being made on plans to resurface the A40 at The Bryn, near Abergavenny,

Nick has been in lengthy discussions with the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, Edwina Hart AM in support of local residents’ long running campaign to reduce noise levels on the A40, which runs alongside their village.

Speaking on Wednesday, he said: “The Minister has now confirmed that her department is in the process of finalising the list of noise mitigation works that will be undertaken in the next financial year.

“I know that residents have fought long and hard to get this stretch of the A40, one of a dwindling number of concrete roads in Wales, resurfaced. Noise levels from passing traffic are on occasions intolerable and getting worse as traffic increases. They live in a beautiful rural area and, quite rightly, feel that they are entitled to a quiet peaceful life. I fully support them in their aim.

“I will continue to monitor the situation and hope it won’t be too much longer before we see resurfacing work underway.”
