Angle inshore lifeboat aids teenage girl in beach rescue

In an hour-long mission, RNLI Angle’s D-class inshore lifeboat – on its fourth call-out in a week – went to the aid of a teenage girl found unconscious on a beach at Hakin, Milford Haven, on Thursday night (10 May).

Volunteer crew members had just completed an RNLI first aid course at the station when the request for help was received from HM Coastguard.

The lifeboat (D-638), Richard John Talbot Hillier, launched at 10.30 pm to Cunjic Beach, which has no vehicular access. Dale Coastguard rescue team, an ambulance and a Mid and West Wales Fire Service rescue boat had also been tasked to the incident.

An ambulance paramedic attended to the 15-year-old girl, who was placed on a stretcher and transferred to the inshore lifeboat, which took her to the nearby Gellyswick Beach slipway where an ambulance was waiting to take her to hospital.

The lifeboat returned to the station at 11.30pm. With Helmsman Mark Roch on the call-out were Luke Richards and Sarah Lunn.
