Angle RNLI lifeboat tows catamaran to safety

RNLI Angle’s all-weather Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched on Sunday afternoon (5 December) to assist a 36 foot catamaran which had broken down, with engine problems, off the entrance to the Milford Haven Waterway.

The catamaran Kanaloa, with three persons on board, was on passage from Milford to Land’s End.

The lifeboat was launched at 4.29pm, at the request of HM Coastguard, and established a tow to the stricken vessel 11 minutes later.

The catamaran was then taken to Milford Marina, where she was berthed at 5.35pm, and by 6pm the lifeboat had been rehoused and was ready for service again.

It was the second time in two days that the catamaran had been assisted by an RNLI lifeboat. She first developed engine problems on Saturday morning (4 December) off St Davids Head and was towed to Milford Marina by the St Davids Tyne class lifeboat.
