Anglesey residents are invited to come and question leading local politicians during a road show to be held across the island this month.
At the meetings Council Leader, Clive McGregor will outline budget proposals for 2010/11 and ask people for their views on Council spending and priorities. This is the second time the Council Executive has taken to the road to hear people’s views in the past six months.
Councillor McGregor said: “We decided to hold a second round of public meetings following the success of the first road show in the autumn and my promise at the time to undertake further consultation. Again I would encourage as many people as possible to attend and to make the most of this opportunity to tell us their views.”
“We are keen to increase opportunities for residents to have their say, these meetings will form part of that commitment to encourage and increase public engagement in Council business. As we work towards bringing the Council closer to those communities these debates mean we can talk to the public directly and ensure they are able to participate in the process of developing policies. ”
He added: “The main topic this time will be the proposed budget for 2010/11 and Council Tax increases as well as our strategic priorities for the coming three years. We are facing a very difficult time ahead and will be forced to make cuts across our services. My intention is to highlight the seriousness of the situation and to ensure residents are aware of the constraints on the Council’s budget and how this will affect the way we prioritise services.”
