Another Chance to Make Real Savings on Energy Bills with Cyd Cymru

cydEnergy consumers in Wales have another chance to make significant savings on their bills as the nation’s collective energy switching scheme, Cyd Cymru launches its second switch on the 27th January as Big Energy Saving Week opens. The first switch closed with the opportunity for those registered to make on average a saving of between £239 and £87.

Cabinet member for environment, Cllr Ashley Govier said:

‘In light of rising bills and the corrosive effect of fuel poverty this administration has secured genuine savings on energy bills, around £1m if all those registered accept the relevant offer in the first switch, through Cyd Cymru. We targeted the most vulnerable where fuel poverty is an everyday challenge and I’m delighted we’ve had an above average proportion of people signed up from these communities first time around with the potential to save £87 per households that are prepayment customers and £239 for those on direct debit.’

Councillor Rob Curtis, Cabinet Member for Environment and Visible Services at the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said:

‘The first switch attracted well over 5000 registered energy consumers and that is a good start but we think we can attract many more now people can see the tangible savings available. We also provide advice on how to make your home far more energy efficient, a crucial tool in saving people even more money so people shouldn’t hesitate in signing up for the second switch as soon as possible. There’s no better time than Big Energy Saving Week to sign up and get a better deal on your energy.’

Cyd Cymru will operate the second registration period from Monday 27th January until Sunday 2nd March. It’s very easy to register, just go to www.cydcymru-energy.com or call 0800 093 5902.
