Another Top 10 for Cwmcarn Forest

Cwmcarn Forest is proving to be a huge hit with visitors with news of yet another major achievement.

A report by Visit Wales called ‘Visits to Tourist Attractions in Wales 2010’ has just been published and lists Cwmcarn Forest in the Top Ten most visited free attractions in Wales during 2010.

“This is an enormous boost for Cwmcarn Forest to be recognised as a major visitor destination, attracting over 178,000 visitors last year,” said Cllr Ron Davies, Caerphilly CBC cabinet member for the environment. “It’s wonderful to see Cwmcarn up there with the big players like National Museum of Wales and St Fagans; it just demonstrates how popular the venue is for walking, cycling and for generally enjoying the great outdoors. It is a credit to the staff at Cwmcarn Forest who have worked hard to develop its facilities including the recently upgraded campsite which achieved four stars from Visit Wales.”

2011 has seen Cwmcarn Forest placed firmly on the tourist map. During March 2011 it was voted as a Top Ten ‘Valleys Essential’ in a public poll. The campaign run by The Valleys Heart & Soul Project, funded by The Welsh Government encouraged visitors to vote for their Top 10 favourite places to visit. Visitors were so passionate about Cwmcarn Forest that they voted in their droves.

With its stunning forest drive and visitor centre, Cwmcarn Forest has so much to offer walkers, cyclists and families alike. The new glamping pods are a wonderful addition to the campsite, giving those people who are not keen on sleeping under canvas a warm and cosy alternative!
