Appeal following bag snatch in Holywell

An appeal for witnesses and information is being made after an elderly woman was the victim of a bag snatch in Holywell yesterday (Tuesday, 26th January).

At 13:35 North Wales Police received a report that the 80-year-old had her bag snatched whilst walking from the Somerfield car park down the alley way towards the High Street when she passed a youth who grabbed hold of her bag.

The youth ran away towards the library, near to the top of the Somerfield car park, and removed a small quantity of cash before discarding the bag and its contents. He then ran off towards Pen y Ball area.

The offender is described as being white, between 18 and 20-years-old and around 5 ft 6 inches and of medium build. He was wearing grey hooded top, black jogging bottoms and had a black scarf wrapped around his face.

The woman was left shocked but unhurt by the incident.

This incident is not believed to be linked to the bag snatch that occurred in Buckley over the weekend, which remains under investigation.
