Appeal following serious sexual assault

Police are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault on a woman in Wrexham in the early hours of Saturday morning October 30.

The 50-year-old victim was making her way to a taxi rank on Abbott Street, Wrexham, following a night out. It is on this street that she is believed to have met the offender. The offender, who is described as white, in his mid forties of medium build with short dark, graded hair, is believed to have walked with her away from the town centre before she was sexually assaulted.

The victim was found in a distressed state in Park Avenue Wrexham around 3am. She was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital where she received treatment for cuts and bruises.

The suspect is believed to have been wearing a black leather jacket and may have had a moustache.

Detective Inspector Arwyn Jones said: “This was a particularly nasty and distressing attack and we would appeal to the public to help us to find the offender. I would like to reassure the public that incidents like this are extremely rare in the Wrexham area and North Wales Police are appealing to anyone with information, however insignificant they may consider it to be, to contact detectives at Wrexham CID.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Abbott Street or Park Avenue between 11.30pm on Friday 29 October 29 and 4am on October 30 to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 01978 348364 or North Wales Police on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously with information on 0800 555 111.
