Appeal for CCTV and vehicle info: Siddiqi murder

South Wales Police investigating the murder of 17-year-old Aamir Siddiqi on Sunday, April 11 are appealing for information on a distinctive vehicle.

The silver Volvo XC90 was seen driving around the Cathays and Roath areas of Cardiff that day and was later recovered in Adamsdown.

Officers know the car was stolen from the Newport area around 12 months ago and are appealing for information on its recent whereabouts, who has been driving it, and where it has been kept.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this car on the day of Aamir’s death particularly around lunchtime.

Aamir died after being attacked at his family home in Ninian Road, Roath, Cardiff, at around 1.40pm on Sunday, April 11. He died of stab wounds.

Since his death, a team of approximately 60 police officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries including house to house, forensic examination, and viewing of CCTV footage.

Hundreds of hours of CCTV have already been recovered.

The investigation team are further appealing for anyone in the Roath and Cathays area who has private or business-use CCTV to contact them at the incident room in Cardiff Central Police Station.

The community is once again thanked for its support and co-operation during this on-going investigation.

* Two men, aged 35 and 36, have been charged with the murder of Aamir Siddiqi and the attempt murder of his parents.
