Police are appealing for information after a report of a serious sexual assault which is believed to have occurred in the playground area at Primitive Place, Beaufort some time between 8pm and 10pm on Saturday August 6th.
The victim, a 20 year old female from the Beaufort area, is believed to have walked from Llangynidr Road area in Garnlydan, to the area where the incident occurred although it is not clear which route she took to get there. The area is popular with dog walkers, there are lots of footpaths and cut- throughs and is generally used a recreation ground.
The victim is receiving support from specialist officers. House to house and forensic enquiries are continuing. An incident room has been set up and if anyone has any information they are asked to call Gwent Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
