Appeal for Information Following Attempted Robbery, Abercarn

GwentpoliceGwent Police is appealing for information following an attempted robbery which took place on the riverbank at the rear of the Prince of Wales Industrial Estate, Abercarn at approximately 7.50pm on Thursday 10th July. The area is locally known as “Fish Leaps”.

The victim was walking along the riverbank with his dog when two men approached him and demanded that he handed over his dog.  A struggle pursued and the men then made off on foot towards Travis Perkins Builders Merchants.

The victim sustained minor facial and leg injuries and received treatment at the Royal Gwent Hospital.  The dog was unharmed.

One offender is described as being white, in his mid 20s, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and of medium build.  He had a long slim face with a pronounced chin and dark coloured eyebrows.  He spoke with a strong Irish accent and was wearing a dark blue hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

The other offender is described as being white, in his mid 20s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and of slim build.  He had short dark brown hair which was spiked at the front and stubble.  He spoke with a Newport or Cardiff accent and was wearing a white t-shirt, navy tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
