Apprenticeship Week Wales, 1st to 5th February

Apprenticeship Week Wales, from 1st to 5th February, is a week dedicated to celebrating the skills and enthusiasm apprentices bring to employers across Wales. It features demonstration events by training providers and good news stories about real apprentices.

Apprenticeship Week Wales celebrates the skills and enthusiasm of people who learn from their employers, but bring a lot to the job themselves.

Training providers across Wales are opening their doors so that you as a potential employer can visit to see how training takes place, and the good work that apprentices do. The list below shows what is happening where in Wales.

Apprentices usually have to get five good GCSEs to join the programme, so the quality of entrants is high. They work for businesses and other employers both large and small. They follow an astonishing range of training routes, from Plumbing to Care, Information Technology to Construction.

Many apprentices are taken on by employers who see the bigger picture, who appreciate that they are investing in a young person as well as their business. But it is also true that Apprentices bring a significant return on investment and often go on to senior management roles.

The Welsh Assembly Government believes in Apprenticeships because they fuel the future skills base of the nation. That’s why we pay the training costs, leaving you to pay only for the wage of the trainee.

Can you make someone great? You could if you take on an Apprentice.
