Are Luggage Restrictions Cramping your Reading Habit?

cardiff-library-low-res-63Download free e-books, e-zines and e-audiobooks from your local Denbighshire library – you just need to be a member of the library. (Similar schemes operate in other areas of Wales. Visit your local library for details).

There are over 14,000 e-book titles available to download – including some Welsh language titles – from children’s fiction to travel guides, biographies and recipe books to thrillers and romance. You can also choose from over 250 e-magazines and hundreds of e-audiobooks – and they’re all free to download via the Libraries page at www.denbighshire.gov.uk.

Bethan Hughes from Denbighshire Libraries said:

“This is a brilliant way to take lots of books away on holiday for FREE and not worry about the weight or having room for your flip flops. Libraries are free to join and you can download up to 10 e-books to your e-reader, smartphone, tablet or laptop and you don’t need to remember to take the books back because they will automatically disappear at the end of the loan period!

“The e-books service even allows you to reserve an e-book if it is unavailable and you can be alerted via email as soon as the title becomes available. The service is 24/7, so great for those late night readers who need a new book. “

Read all the books by your favourite author – check out the ‘Who else writes like?’ service on the Libraries online references services webpage to find someone new that writes in a similar style/genre to your favourites.

The Minister for Natural Resources, Culture and Sport, John Griffiths commented:
“The choice of magazines on offer is fantastic – I’ve already downloaded a few of my favourite titles about cycling, running and rugby. This is another excellent example of how libraries in Wales are continuing to meet the demands of customers by offering up to date services, relevant to them.”

Users of the e-zines service can enjoy the luxury of downloading as many magazine titles as they wish with no limit or time period, so you can create your own digital library of back issues.

Just make sure you download your e-books, e-zines or e-audio onto your device before you go abroad.

To use these services you must be based in the UK and be member of a library in Wales.
