Arfon Leisure Centre celebrates 30 years

Next week, Gwynedd Council’s Arfon Leisure Centre will celebrate 30 years since its official opening on 16 January 1982.

The centre at Caernarfon was officially opened by the Mayor, Councillor Brian Williams, and since then the centre has offered a variety of opportunities for local residents and visitors to keep fit, enjoy and participate in a range of sports; from swimming to football and gymnastics to squash.

Gerallt Roberts, who manages the Arfon Leisure Centre for Gwynedd Council said:

“It’s a special occasion to be celebrating 30 years since the centre opened. To celebrate the event the centre will be offering a range of activities for 30 pence on the day – Monday, 16 January 2012 – which will include public swimming, use of the weight’s room, squash and a cuppa in the café.

“We hope that this special offer on the celebration day will encourage local residents to stick to their new year’s resolution and stay fit in 2012.”
