Artists & designers of the future unite

With animation & Apple Macs, paintbrushes and pencils at the ready, students from City of Newport Campus will bring a splash of their very own brand of creativity to the Riverfront Theatre for Expo 2011 – their end of year design exhibition.

The Coleg Gwent team has exhibited for a number of years featuring the work of multimedia students, and this year, for the first time, art & design students will also showcase their talents at the event later this month – certainly making this year one not to miss!

Aspiring artists, fervent photographers and go-getting gamers will present a spectacular portfolio of final year work, featuring films, interactive games, web sites, photos, sculptures and paintings.

Each student will have their own exhibition space to display their work which has been carefully chosen to represent the skills and knowledge they have gained during their course.

During the show, members of the public can explore and interactively experience a range of multimedia creations produced by the students who study topics including computer games design, web design, 3D graphics and animation, digital video, DVD production as well as photography and illustration from art & design students.

Following a launch night on Thursday 23 June, the free exhibition will then open to the public on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 June from 10am to 8pm.

Head of Creative Industries at City of Newport Campus Hayley Wilce is excited to see what the students have achieved this year:  “Every year this event promises to have something you’ve never seen before; the students aim to impress and their innovative ideas and creative expression certainly do just that.  And now that art and design students are joining the multimedia show, there really is something for everyone, not just artists and designers, to enjoy.”
