Asghar questions First Minister on promotion of deaf awareness issues

National Assembly Member Mohammad Asghar asked First Minister Carwyn Jones what the Welsh Assembly Government can do to promote the aims of organisations like Deaf Awareness Week.

In the Senedd on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Asghar highlighted how Deaf Awareness Week focuses on “simple steps that people can take to help to improve communication with the 9 million people in Britain who are deaf or hard of hearing”.

He asked the First Minister what steps the Welsh Assembly Government can take to “promote the aims” of causes like Deaf Awareness Week – and highlighted the example of ensuring that “people are aware of the challenges faced … by children and young people in our schools who suffer from hearing problems”.

In his response, the First Minister noted that it was “important that people are made aware of the problems faced by deaf children”.
