National Assembly Member Mohammad Asghar has welcomed John Marek into the Party ranks following his decision to join the Welsh Conservatives.
Speaking after Monday’s announcement, Mr Asghar heaped praise on Mr Marek – a former Member of Parliament and National Assembly Member.
“I am delighted and hugely excited to hear the news about John Marek’s decision to join the Conservative Party.
“Mr Marek is a well respected and hugely experienced man and is sure to prove an asset to the Conservatives. I am delighted that Mr Marek has made this bold decision.”
Mr Asghar, Regional Assembly Member for South Wales East, said that Mr Marek’s decision was a reflection on the Party’s positive agenda for change put forward by David Cameron nationally and by Nick Bourne in Wales.
He added: “Labour has no divine right to rule in Wales. With such high unemployment, a declining rural economy and such significant levels of child poverty, the time is clearly here for change.
“The Welsh Conservative Party has momentum and Mr Marek’s announcement is a further indication of how inclusive our party is”.
