Assault in Pwllheli

An appeal for witnesses and information is being made after a woman was assaulted in Pwllheli on Sunday night (March 7).

Shortly after 11:30pm, the 21-year-old was walking her dog along the gravel footpath adjacent to the grounds of secondary school, Ysgol Glan y Môr, when she was approached from behind by a male.

As the man got close to her, she turned around and was verbally abused before being punched to her face. A scuffle occurred and the woman was then pulled to the ground by her hair and was then kicked to her head.

The man then ran off, but his direction of travel is unknown. He is described as being approximately 5 ft 8 inches tall with brown eyes. He was wearing a dark hooded top; dark jeans and blue and white trainers.

The woman sustained bruising to her face and scratches on both arms as a result of the incident and had to receive medical treatment for her injuries.

Sergeant Steve Edge said: “We are appealing to anybody who may have information regarding this incident to come forward; however, we would like to reassure the public that this type of incident is not a regular occurrence in the area.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed a man acting suspiciously in the area, or anybody who may have witnessed the incident, is urged to contact officers at Pwllheli Police Station on 101, or Crimestoppers Wales anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
