Groundwork Caerphilly and Tri County Play successfully gained the prestigious SERA award during a recent ceremony hosted in Llancaiach Fawr Manor.

Over 100 members of local businesses and organisations that support children, young people and families joined together for the annual Interact event.

The event saw Cabinet Member for Education & Lifelong Learning, Cllr. Rhianon Passmore present both Groundwork Caerphilly and Tri County Play with the Self Evaluation and Recognition Award SERA. The organisations now carry the prestige of becoming first in the Caerphilly county borough to have gained the quality benchmark award since its launch in September 2013.

The event is designed to inspire and encourage shared practice amongst organisations. During the morning a number of short films were showcased offering real life examples of the work carried out by local organisations.

Cllr Rhianon Passmore, Cabinet Member for Education & Lifelong Learning said: “I would like to extend my congratulations to those who have achieved SERA awards, it is an excellent achievement and deserves recognition.”

She continued: “It has been fantastic to have the opportunity to hear first hand all of the excellent services available for the county borough’s youngest residents. By working together we are able to ensure that the needs of our communities and the families within them are at the forefront of our minds.”

The deadline for the next SERA submissions is April 25th and applications are to be completed online at www.caerphilly.gov.uk/sera/
