Back RNLI at Christmas with Stormy Stan

download(7)A Cardiff hairdresser is the first business in the city to take delivery of a giant Christmas card, which will help fundraise to keep the RNLI’s volunteer crews afloat. The charity’s larger than life mascot Stormy Stan visited WOW hairdressers, on Llandaff Road to deliver the festive fundraiser to staff.

Owner Michael Turner is now calling on others to take advantage of the innovative way for colleagues to wish one another a happy Christmas.

Schools, businesses, groups and organisations are being offered the giant Christmas card containing 50 boxes for well-wishers to write a festive message to friends and colleagues. For a £2 donation to the RNLI, participants can save money, the time of writing out Christmas cards and even play their part in helping to save the planet, by cutting down on the amount of paper used. In addition, they will also be helping to support RNLI’s volunteer crews who will be on call to save lives at sea over the Christmas period.

Marianne Harth, RNLI Corporate Fundraising Manager for Wales and the West says: “The giant Christmas card is perfect to be placed in a reception, restaurant, or office where customers or colleagues can complete a message box rather than sending individual Christmas cards. The pack also comes with a cardboard collecting box ready for the £2 donation per message.

“Not only is it an environmentally friendly way to offer festive wishes, it saves money and keeps offices neat and tidy at Christmas. More importantly the donation to the RNLI helps to ensure our volunteer crews can continue rescuing 21 people every single day. Participants can either offer good wishes to their friends and colleagues or to the RNLI’s volunteer crews who will be on call as usual over the festivities.”

Michael Turner, owner of WOW hairdressers who accepted the card from the RNLI’s mascot says: “When the RNLI approached us with this idea, we instantly saw the benefits of it. Not only does it save paper and the money normally spent sending Christmas cards, it is an excellent way to support such a worthwhile charity.

“I’m sure our customers will show their support, as they can also use it to offer Christmas greetings to the RNLI’s lifeboat crews.”

The giant Christmas card is available by contacting the RNLI Wales and West Regional Fundraising Office on 0121 7806960.
