Bands compete for The Gathering

Talented young musicians throughout South Wales aged up to 18, are presently competing in local area heats to win a place in The Gathering’s Battle of the Bands grand final to be held in Bridgend Recreation Centre on Saturday 24 April 2010.

Supported by the South Wales Music Forum (comprising of nine South Wales local authorities) and Rockschool – Europe’s leading rock and pop music exam board who believe that anyone can get a recognised qualification by playing the music they love – The Gathering is an ideal opportunity to showcase young Welsh rock talent and to catch them before they make it big!

From 2pm – 10pm, youth rock bands will perform and be judged by big names in the Welsh music industry to win the top prize of £500, recording time in music studios, professional photo shoot, music magazine interviews and future billing with the final’s headline act, The Guns (renowned up and coming four-piece rock band from South Wales who are receiving an ever increasing following throughout the UK). The two runners up will each receive £250 and studio recording time. All three top bands will have promoter’s billing opportunities.

As well as headliners The Guns, will be cross genre Welsh band Bleed Electric, renowned hip hop DJ Jason Camilleri as MC, spot prizes and competitions. Throughout the day, stalls and games organized by Bridgend Festivals Committee will be outside in the Bowls Hall car park of Bridgend Recreation Centre with a mobile youth club, chill out areas and DJ.
