BANFF Mountain Film Festival (15)

For the past 2 years, Mwldan has been delighted to play host to the Banff Mountain Film Festival’s first 2 UK Tours. The tour was sell out success in both 2010 and 2011 at Mwldan and across the UK, and we welcome the BANFF Tour back to Cardigan in 2012 with a collection of extraordinary short films from the world’s most prestigious Mountain Film Festival, all screened in glorious High Definition.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival tours dozens of different countries, presenting award-winning films with topics ranging from remote landscapes to daredevil action sports. Banff will be presenting their films along with a great prize give-away!

Films that will be featured on the evening include: ‘Cold’, which was filmed in early 2011, when Simone Moro, Cory Richards and Dennis Urubko set out to be the first to climb one of Pakistan’s 8000 metre peaks in the heart of winter – and then an avalanche hits…‘Reel Rock: Origins – Obe & Ashima’, is a film telling the inspiring story of Ashima, a nine-year-old girl from New York City taking the climbing world by storm. Guided by her passionate coach and former bouldering star Obe Carrion. ‘All I Can (the Short Cut)’, is a special Tour edit of the award-winning ski film with mind-blowing snow sports action. Stunning time-lapse sequences, deep powder and an incredible urban downhill skiing scene are just some of the highlights. ‘Kadoma’, is a kayaking film, filmed in December 2010, when two American pro-kayakers followed Coetzee (a legendary South African kayaker) into the Democratic Republic of Congo for a first descent of the dangerous Lukuga River. Seven weeks into the expedition, tragedy struck.
