Baptism for new crew member

The latest recruit on the RNLI Flint lifeboat crew responded to her first service call on Sunday afternoon. Ffion Lewis joined earlier this year, and was on the crew searching for a small dingy with engine failure.

Liverpool Coastguard requested the launch of Flint RNLI lifeboat at 02:09pm on Sunday afternoon, following a report of a small dingy with engine failure with one person aboard adrift to the south east of the Duke of Lancaster. The lifeboat was taken by road to Greenfield Dock where it was launched at 02:20pm. The volunteer crew carried out a thorough search of the area from Greenfield Docks to Mostyn Docks, and the surrounding area of Salisbury Bank.

Following the search the lifeboat was stood down, recovered at Greenfield, returned to station where it was made ready for service at 05:30pm.

Helmsman Rob Schofield commented:

‘It was quite rough out there with short breaking seas, and a force 5 wind, we carried out a thorough search, but nothing was found.’
