The Vale of Glamorgan Council is working in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government through the Barry Regeneration Scheme to redevelop the Weston Park Play Area and Bassett Street Park.
The aim of the work is to create environments that can be enjoyed by all members of the local community and to improve health and wellbeing opportunities in Barry with improved leisure and play areas for all.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council would like local residents to have the greatest possible input into the redevelopment by telling us exactly what facilities they would like to see.
At the Weston Square Play Area site there are three plans up for consideration. All three cater for all age groups of young people and all have clearly segregated areas for different age groups. Each design has its own carefully considered mixture of colour coordinated fixed and static equipment and will make the area a pleasant environment for active play or to hang out with friends. The Council would like residents to choose which one is built.
The Bassett Street project is more open with the Council looking to design their redevelopment around the priorities of local residents. The park will continue to be a mixture of sports courts and play areas for younger children but all other aspects of it – green spaces, picnic areas, CCTV – are up for public consideration.
All views and comments are welcomed and the consultation is open to all residents of the Vale of Glamorgan.
