Bates praises excellent A-level results in Powys

Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates congratulates Powys pupils who have once again achieved excellent A-level results in the WJEC examinations.

Commenting, Mr Bates states:

“Congratulations to all students who have achieved such fantastic A-level results and my very best wishes to them for the future.  This is an extremely exciting time for students as well as their families and teachers who have supported them through their studies and I am delighted to see such great results in Montgomeryshire.

“The results in Powys are higher than the Welsh average right across the board, with 98.3% receiving a grade A*-E compared to the Wales average of 97.1%.  This is excellent news and a tribute to the hard work of all students and to the dedication of every teacher who helps Powys reach high standards.

“If you didn’t get quite what you hoped for in your exams, don’t panic as there is support for you.  Do speak to your teachers for advice, or ring the National Exam Results Helpline on 08081008000.

“I hope the school modernisation programme won’t disrupt these fantastic achievements and I am sure that we will continue to go from strength to strength in Powys in the future.”
