Ffynone House School celebrates A Level success again

Ffynone House School pupils had reason to celebrate when they received their A Level results on Thursday (19th August). Their results continue the A Level successes that Ffynone House pupils have enjoyed for the last few years.

The school received a 100% pass rate at A Level for the second year in a row. In fact, Ffynone House School has now gained a 100% pass rate at A Level for 6 of the last 8 years.

In an exceptional year for high grades, pupils gained 50% A*/A grades and an outstanding 77% A*-B grades. The number of grades gained at A* – C surpassed expectations again with 88% of students achieving them. This follows A-C figures of 80% in 2007, 87% in 2008 and 88% last year.

Amongst the individual achievements this year were:

  • Deputy Head Girl Isabelle Percy who will study Actuarial Sciences in Warwick after gaining an A* and 2 A grades.
  • Miranda Llewelyn-Jenkins who gained As in English and Business Studies as well as gaining an external A* in Drama. Miranda will go on to study Business Management in Cardiff.
  • Hannah Copues who was Headmistresses Prefect gained 2 A*’s and a B grade at Ffynone. Hannah, who also sat a drama A Level, will study Drama & English at Queen Mary’s College in London.
  • Head Girl Josie Palmer who joined Ffynone from Oakleigh House gained an A*, an A and a B and will study Psychology in Swansea
  • Head Boy Stephen Jenkins gained two As and a B grade. Stephen is a show-jumper for the UK Development Team. He joined Ffynone from Oakleigh House School and intends to study Surveying & City Planning in Cardiff University.

Headmistress of the School, Nicola Walker, commented,

Due to the high levels of interest in the sixth form in Ffynone House, the school has recently added three A Levels to its options.
