Battle of the Bands at Central Library

Music plays an important role at Cardiff Central library not only does it host weekly acoustic sets and is home to a baby white piano but it was opened by international rockers Manic Street Preachers.

With this in mind the team at Central have organised a Battle of the Bands, for local bands to compete for the opportunity to perform live at this year’s Cardiff Mardi Gras in front of an audience of thousands at Cooper’s Field.

The event is being run in partnership with Soundscene which is a community music project based in Cathays’ Community Centre, in Cardiff.

Over the past few weeks young Cardiff musicians aged between 13-19 have undergone a selection process at Cathays’ Community Centre.

Local bands Inconsiderate Parking, The Fine Line, Love the Judge, My Forgotten Desire, Scriber, and Motive have beaten tough competition to reach the final, which will take place at Cardiff Central library on Saturday 16 April.

Tickets for the event are now on sale and cost £3 in advance or £5 on the door. Tickets can be obtained from Cardiff central Library reception. For more details contact 029 2038 2116 or email [email protected]
