BBC Cymru Wales dramas scoops TV Choice awards

BBC Cymru Wales dramas scooped four out of five awards in the drama categories at the TV Choice magazine awards earlier this week.

Doctor Who was voted best family drama, with Karen Gillan picking up the best actress award for her role as The Doctor’s companion Amy Pond.

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat’s other hugely successful series Sherlock (made by Hartswood for BBC Wales) took the award for Best New Drama, while Being Human (made by Touchpaper for BBC Wales), which  is now shot in Wales, was named Best Drama Series.

The TV Choice awards are voted for by the public.

BBC Cymru Wales dramas will shortly be produced at the new BBC Roath Lock studios in Cardiff, which officially opens next March.
