BBC National Orchestra of Wales will perform two concerts at Amsterdam’s famous Concertgebouw on 4 and 5 August this year.
The concert hall which opened in 1888 is regarded as one of the finest in the world due to its excellent acoustics and history and is home to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
BBC National Orchestra of Wales’ last visit to the Concertgebouw took place in November 2003.
Joining BBC National Orchestra of Wales will be Welsh soloists harpist Catrin Finch, pianist Llŷr Williams and organist Huw Williams. Flautist Emmanuel Pahud and the Orchestra’s Principal Conductor Thierry Fisher will also be joining them for the visit to the Dutch capital.
David Murray, Director of BBC National Orchestra of Wales, said:
“It is a real honour to be asked to perform at this prestigious venue and we look forward to flying the flag for Wales and showcasing the excellent talent of our musicians.”
The Orchestra will perform two different programmes of music at each concert including music by Beethoven, Debussy, Saint Saëns, Ravel, Ibert and Brahms.
