An awareness day, to help address the fear and perception of crime amongst the elderly and vulnerable, has been held in Benllech.
The day, which took place during the launch of the newly-formed Over 50’s Club, involved the local Neighbourhood Policing Team, Anglesey County Council and Age Concern.
Held at the Ex Servicemen Hall in Benllech, various stands were on display with information on Door Step Crime, Beating Bogus Callers and advice from Trading Standards.
PCSO Iona Beckmann said: “The event was very well received, as over 90 new members came to join the Over-50’s Club.
“North Wales Police recognises that older people may have concerns or be vulnerable to certain types of crime, but hopefully, by taking part in days such as this, we can help reduce the fear of crime and work in partnership with other agencies and talk about any issues or concerns they have.”
Local Community Beat Manager, PC Andy McGregor said: “This is all part of our Policing Pledge – to make sure that local residents know who their neighbourhood policing team is and that we are listening to their concerns.”
