Bethany’s winning Christmas card design

Christmas CardTwo-year-old Bethany Kinman is the proud designer of this year’s Flying Start Christmas card.

A competition for a card to be printed and distributed to families within Flying Start areas in Barry and partnership agencies involved children in the organisation’s five childcare settings. There were nearly 100 entries featuring snowmen with red bobble hats, stars, fairies and reindeers.

Flying Start co-ordinator Antonia Bridges said: “We had a fantastic response and choosing the winning card was very difficult. They were all beautifully made by the children.”

A panel of Flying Start co-ordinators acted as judges and plumped for a ‘very distinctive’ design comprising a reindeer in which Bethany used feet for the face and hands for the antlers. Bethany attends Dechrau’n Deg at Illminster Road.

Antonia added: “We would like to thank everyone who took part in the competition and wish everyone a Merry Christmas from the Flying Start team.”

Flying Start is a Welsh Assembly Government initiative being delivered through the Vale of Glamorgan Council and partners. It is targeting children up to four years of age in the catchment areas for Jenner Park, Cadoxton and Oak Field primary schools. Intensive health visiting is available along with parenting, free childcare and play.
