A warning has gone out today from Neath Port Talbot Council to make residents aware of a scam circulating the county borough.
Council tax payers are being targeted by a fraudster who is telephoning them saying he can help them claim a refund in overpaid council tax.
Martin Jones, Head of Revenues at the Council, says, “The Council wants to stress that this is a scam designed to get people to disclose their bank account details.
“If you get a call, do not under any circumstances give the caller any personal details.
“You should contact the Police immediately to report the call.”
