On Sunday Dai Young and his squad could make history, by winning their first ever European trophy. They will take on Toulon at Marseille in the Amlin Challenge Cup Final.

Blues fans unable to make the trip to France can enjoy all the excitement and build up at Roald Dahl Plass from 1pm , where a giant screen will be showing the game live.

The Council is working in conjunction with South Wales Police and Cardiff Harbour Authority to put together a family-friendly event with a big screen at Roahl Dahl Plass, Cardiff Bay to give the Welsh capital a chance to show their support for the Blues.

Seven thousand fans will be able to savour the occasion at Roald Dahl Plass with free admission to the event on a first come first served basis from 1pm until half an hour after the match finishes. The screen will be showing live coverage of all the big match build-up from 1.00pm counting down to kick off at 2pm.

For health and safety reasons no-one will be allowed to take alcohol onto the site but bars selling alcohol and refreshments will be available nearby.

Executive member for Sport Leisure & Culture, Councillor Nigel Howells, said: “This weekend is truly a super one for Cardiff sports fans. Our football team are in the Championship play-off final and our rugby team could win their first European trophy. With so much at stake, we felt it important to create a great atmosphere in the city to celebrate the achievements of both teams and for fans to be able to watch the games in the heart of the capital.

“Fingers crossed both teams will get the results they deserve and on Monday we will have a Premier League football team and an Amlin cup final winning team to be proud of. Good luck to both the Bluebirds and the Blues.”
