Bike it Day @ Ysgol Bryn Hedydd

Youngsters at Ysgol Bryn Hedydd,  Rhyl have been on a crusade to lower their carbon footprint over the last year by taking part in the national Bike It Campaign.

The school has held a number of events since September, all of which have tried to get children and parents to walk or cycle to school.

Each person who cycled to school received a Bike it Token which they wrote their name on and put in a raffle box.

Yesterday (Thursday), the school held a Bike It Day which had a number of events,  including a Bike It Breakfast where all those who rode to school got a free breakfast.

There were bike riding lessons, bike Olympic activities and a bike maintenance session. The last event of the day was the Bike It raffle, with the bike given as the prize to the winner.

There were over 200 children participating during the day with all governors, parents, classroom assistants and teachers all supporting.  This scheme was run in conjunction a Bike It Officer, employed by Sustrans.
