Birthday girl’s donation to the RNLI at New Quay

When Aberaeron’s Jane Thomas recently organised her milestone ‘birthday bash’ at the Cadogan, she requested family and friends who were attending to make donations to the RNLI rather than give presents.

This raised a substantial amount of money which was used to provide a scoop stretcher to the New Quay lifeboat crew and a donation of £50.00 with the money left over. The new stretcher will be a most useful addition to the crew’s equipment. It is light to carry, easy to store and makes the transfer of casualties safer than by using the conventional basket type stretcher.

Roger Couch, Lifeboat Operations Manager, commented:

‘We are grateful to Jane for her magnanimous donation. It is important that we have the best available equipment for our work of saving lives at sea and, as a charity which receives no Government money, we have to rely totally on the generosity of the public, legacies and gestures such as this’.
