Blaenau Gwent Cadets raise £285 in charity walk collection

The Blaenau Gwent Police Cadets would like to thank local residents for contributing to their bucket collection for Comic Relief on Saturday.

The Cadets raised £285 while completing a sponsored walk around the four main police stations in Blaenau Gwent.

The total amount raised is expected to reach £1,000 once their individual sponsorship money is gathered together.

The voluntary cadets began their 15-mile hike at Tredegar Police Station and visited Ebbw Vale and Brynmawr police stations before finishing at the station in Abertillery.

The Cadets planned the walk as they wanted to play their part in raising money for Comic Relief, who support charities both in the UK and abroad.

Police Cadet Danielle Vaughan said: “We all had a great time and the walk also made us visible in the community while we raised money for a good cause.

“There were some tired legs at the end of the walk, but people’s contributions to our bucket collection made it all worthwhile.”
